An-Najah Professor Participates in a Workshop on Arab Cities Disaster Resilience in Jordan

On Wednesday, August 12th, 2015, Prof. Jalal Dabeek, Director of the Urban Planning and Disaster Risk Reduction Center at An-Najah participated in a workshop on Arab cities disaster resilience in Jordan.

The workshop was attended by experts from the Arab World, UN-Habitat, UNDP and UNISDR and was over 2 days from August 12th-13th, 2015.

The workshop aimed at discussing a number of Palestinian, Arab and international studies and experiments on the issue.

The workshop shed light on disasters that the Arab cities may encounterand their commitment to the international standards for natural hazards.

The workshop resulted in a number of recommendations on the Arab cities resiliency reports that will be evaluated.

Notes:

–   It is worth mentioning that the SASPARM 2 in cooperation with EUCENTRE and IUSS in Pavia will valuate the disaster resiliency of Nablus buildings as a case study.
